Samuel Perche Homoerotic Intimacy
Born in 1979 in Rennes, France, Samuel Perche began his first professional career as a videographer for the theater, then as an actor for theater, cinema and television, notably in the series La vie devant nous for TF1.
In 2013, he moved to Reunion Island and joined the École Supérieure d’Art. Graduated in 2017, he presented the same year his first personal exhibition of monumental sculpture @Corpus in the TEAT Champ Fleuri Gallery, in St Denis.
Committed to the cultural sector, he works, in 2019, as the artistic director and communication manager at L'enVoL, first development agency for artist-authors and dedicated structures, as well as project manager for the Réunion des Talents Fundation in 2021. Activist for human rights, he participated in the organization of the 1st Gay Pride in Reunion in 2021, and became coordinator of actions in favor of LGBTQIA+ people in Reunion island in 2022 within the LGBTQIA Center, of which he is the one of the founders. As a curator, he signed Terra Incognita 1 and 2, as well as Au loin s’encoment at the Pavillon Martin of the FRAC Reunion. NO·MAN·MEN presented in Grand-Bois in 2022, is his first personal painting exhibition.
His plastic universe is queer and explores desire, the gay body and homoerotic intimacy, through its many classical and contemporary representations. How can the gay body be an emblem of political struggle in an era when sexual and gender identities challenge the foundations of heteronormative patriarchal society and refute the powers of dominant white masculinity?
At the beginning of 2024, he returned to settle in his native Brittany.
