Lior Horesh Photography - The Human Experience
Pan Gallery is proud to present works by award winning (2020) photographer Lior Horesh - a graduate of WIZO Haifa photography school, and first runner up of the esteemed 2020 photography competition “Edut Mekomit”, presented in Midtown Tel Aviv.
According to the competition judges, Lior’s work was chosen because in his series "The Human Experience" he "stripped his subjects from their cultural trade marks, and they were formed anew into situations reflecting an elusive existence experience, alienated and surprising, which toggles between identity, loneliness, alienation, meaning and confusion, all over the country."
IN HIS WORDS:
What remains when humans peel away all the layers of technology and convenience, the contexts of time, place and culture? What is the distilled human experience? How would the "Guide to Life" be written if it were attached to every descendant of human society that ever comes?
In the human experience series, the Photographed figures, personal acquaintances of the photographer from his daily life, went through their hallmarks and re-cast into carefully staged situations, like a sort of human absurd theatre that reflects the elusive, alienating and surprising experience of existence.
This act of art examines with a critical eye and investigates questions of loneliness, alienation, meaning and confusion. Sometimes in a humorous, sometimes tragic or surreal way, and always as a re-creation of a world moving along the fine line between utopia and dystopia. Between logic and order to chaos and disintegration.
